SILVER BAY, Minn. – The state Pollution Control Agency is investigating a spill at a taconite plant in northeastern Minnesota. A pipe at the Northshore Mining plant in Silver Bay broke on Wednesday, releasing about 140,000 gallons of recycled water.
The water is believed to have spilled into Lake Superior. The MPCA says it is currently working to determine if the released water impacted the surrounding environment.
