FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo police are awaiting toxicology reports following the discovery of two deceased individuals found inside an apartment on 44th Street South last week.
Officers made the discovery Sept. 22 while conducting a welfare check requested by family members at a residence in the 3100 block of 44th Street South.
Capt. Matt Christensen of the Criminal Investigations Division said initial autopsy findings revealed no signs of obvious trauma to either individual. Investigators believe both people had been deceased for several weeks before being discovered, likely since late August or early September. Full autopsy and toxicology reports could take several weeks to complete.
Authorities are withholding the identities of the victims as officers continue efforts to locate and notify next of kin. Christensen requested patience from the public, emphasizing that the department avoids releasing names until family members can be notified directly.
Based on the scene and evidence gathered so far, police do not believe there is any threat to the community. Officials also confirmed this case is entirely unrelated to the Monday homicide investigation on 34th Street South.
