BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The Bismarck Police Department says a man is in custody following a bomb threat at a bank in downtown Bismarck.
Police say 51-year-old Robert Walsh entered Bravera Bank just after 11:15 Tuesday morning and claimed to have a bomb in his backpack.
Bismarck Police officers immediately responded, evacuated the building, and established a perimeter.
A negotiator contacted Walsh by phone. After a short standoff, Walsh agreed to exit the building and was arrested.
West Dakota SWAT and K9 units conducted searches of the bank. The Bismarck Bomb Squad confirmed that the backpack did not contain any explosives.
Walsh is being held in the Burleigh-Morton Detention Center.
