MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) – Former Vice-President Walter Mondale says Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar will announce her plans Sunday to seek the Democratic nomination for president.
“She’s going to do it” Mondale said, in an interview with KFGO News. “I’m very positive that she will run and announce on Sunday. I think she’s got a real shot here.”
“The first contest will be in Iowa. That’s kind of like home territory for a Minnesotan” according to Mondale. “She should do very well there.”
“She’s got a second engine on her like Hubert did” Mondale said, comparing Klobuchar to former Vice-President Hubert Humphrey. “She just doesn’t get tired.”
Klobuchar has said she plans to make a “big announcement” on Sunday in Minneapolis, although she has not said exactly what she plans to discuss.
