FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – Extended heat is buckling roads in the region, as temperatures have climbed over 90 degrees across the region during the last week. The Minnesota and North Dakota Departments of Transportation have been responding to numerous road buckles, especially on interstates.
I-29 in Fargo experienced a buckle earlier this week and I-94 on the Minnesota side has had crews working in recent days to repair areas near Fergus Falls and Alexandria.
MNDOT says that they’ve been working on so many buckles that they’ve begun having extra replacement concrete available. They also reminds drivers that if you are reporting a concrete buckle on a road, call 9-1-1. They say they treat those situations as emergencies.
