Loon Vape
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed a lawsuit against Maduro Distributors, a distribution company selling vapes in Minnesota under the ‘Loon’ branding.
Ellison says the vapes illegally use flavors and marketing that targets minors. The lawsuit says Loon sells vapes with flavors like ice cream or candy, and uses recognizable marketing that resembles kid-friendly characters.
“Today, I filed a lawsuit to halt the distribution and sale of Loon vapes in Minnesota,” said Attorney General Ellison. “State law bans the sale of e-cigarettes that are designed to appeal to young people. By selling vapes with flavors like Cotton Candy, Blue Razz Slushy, and Mountain Dude, Loon is in clear violation of that law. I have no tolerance for corporations that prey on young people to turn a profit, from big tobacco to big tech and beyond.”
In 2024, a law was passed in the Minnesota Legislature banning this kind of marketing. The Attorney General sent letters to 5,000 tobacco distributors and retailers, including Loon, telling them to stop selling illegally flavored vapes in the state. Ellison’s lawsuit says Loon continued to sell illegal vapes.
The lawsuit also alleges that Loon vapes are not authorized by the FDA, despite being marketed as accepted for approval by the FDA.
Ellison is seeking permanent injunction against Loon and money for the state.
