FAIRMOUNT, N.D. (KFGO) – Two people were injured in a crash at a Richland County intersection Wednesday morning.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says around 9:50 a.m., an 80-year-old Breckenridge woman was traveling south in an SUV on Highway 127 when she failed to yield near an intersection with Highway 11 and struck a semi pulling a trailer filled with corn.
The woman’s SUV spun into the ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection. The semi entered the southeast ditch and rolled. Corn spilled in the ditch and on the highway, causing both lanes to be temporarily closed while crews cleaned up the area.
The semi was being driven by a 66-year-old Lidgerwood man. He was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo by ambulance. The woman driving the SUV was taken to Sanford Medical Center by helicopter. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. The Highway Patrol is investigating if charges can be filed against the woman.
