FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The death toll continues to rise as clean-up and rescue teams continue the search for those still missing after catastrophic flooding in Nepal.
The death toll was up to 939 as of Monday afternoon, with more than 3,900 people still missing as recovery efforts begin.
A GoFundMe has been set up by the Nepali Society of Fargo-Moorhead to raise money for the recovery effort.
They say for the Nepali community around the world, this disaster hit close to home.
“Livelihoods have been destroyed for many people. And in this situation, we just wanted to show our solidarity, and we wanted to combine our community together to show support in any means,” Bishnu Adhikari with the Nepali Society said.
So far they’ve collected over $3,200 in donations.
