The Arthur Companies today announced it has completed its acquisition of Beach Cooperative Grain Company, marking an important expansion of Arthur’s independent, farmer-first grain and agronomy network in western North Dakota. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The transaction follows approval by Beach Cooperative members and months of planning between the Beach board, Beach leadership, and Arthur Companies. As part of the transition, Beach will continue operating as a locally led grain and agronomy business serving area growers, with current employees and management remaining in place.
“For 120 years, The Arthur Companies has grown by earning the trust of farmers one relationship at a time,” said James Burgum, Chief Executive Officer of The Arthur Companies. “Beach has been built on the same kind of neighbor-to-neighbor service, local commitment, and long-term thinking that define our company. We are honored to carry that legacy forward and invest in the people, facilities, and services growers in this region depend on.”
Founded in 1918, Beach Cooperative has served generations of producers across western North Dakota and eastern Montana. The acquisition provides immediate cash value to Beach patrons while positioning the operation for long-term strength as part of Arthur’s broader grain, agronomy and research platform.
“From the beginning, our goal has been to protect what makes Beach strong while giving it additional support needed for the next generation,” Burgum added. “Growers can expect the same familiar faces, the same local relationships, and the same commitment to service — now backed by a larger family-owned company with the resources to keep improving.”
Beach will remain a core grain and agronomy operation. Arthur plans to continue trucking, fertilizer, grain handling, and related services while evaluating future investments in equipment, technology, facilities, and market access. Day-to-day operations will remain locally managed, with decisions made close to the growers and communities served by the Beach team.
“The Beach Cooperative Board has spent considerable time evaluating sustainable paths forward to ensure a strong, successful business for our patrons well into the future. We took a thoughtful approach to this process because we understood what was at stake for our members, employees, and community,” said Rick Miske, President of the Beach Cooperative Board of Directors. “Arthur shares our values, understands the importance of local service, and has shown a clear commitment to maintaining strong competition for growers in this region.”
The completed acquisition also strengthens Arthur’s position as an independent competitor in the northern tier grain and agronomy market. By adding Beach to its network, Arthur expects to provide growers with expanded merchandising opportunities, additional agronomic support, and continued access to locally accountable service.
“What matters most is that growers still have a strong local option,” said Seth Heidorn, Vice President of Grain for The Arthur Companies. “Our job is to earn that business every day with competitive bids, honest service, and practical solutions that help producers succeed.”
