GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) Senator John Hoven helped break ground on the Nathan F. Twining Elementary and Middle School at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. The project will replace Carl Ben Eielson Elementary and Nathan Twining Middle Schools.

Senator John Hoven speaks at Grand Forks Air Force Base.
“It’ll be a middle school and an elementary,” Hoffman said. “This is so important. This is about quality of life. So that when our men and women in uniform come here, they know they have a first class education, a STEM education for their children, and then a lot of cases, that’s the glue that keeps them here for repeated tours and ultimately, maybe long term in our community.”
Senator Hoven worked to secure more than $55 million dollars in federal funding from the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. The new school will support 500 pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students.
