Marlene “Moe” Bohannon, 80, Fargo, ND, died Saturday, April 18, 2026, in The Meadows on University, Fargo.
Marlene was born on February 24, 1946, to Edwin and Emma (Anderson) Hansen in Williston, ND. She was raised on the family farm near McCabe, MT. She attended McCabe Elementary School through eighth grade, in a one room schoolhouse, then went to Culbertson High School, graduating in 1964. She furthered her education at the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD.
Marlene worked in many places throughout the years, which included, American State Bank in Williston, Farmers Union Oil Co. in Froid, MT, where she met her husband, Jimmy Bohannon.
Marlene and Jim were united in marriage on June 8, 1978, in Manning, ND. To this union a daughter, Wendy was born on May 29, 1979. The Bohannon’s lived in Ellendale, ND, Hebron, ND and settled in Oakes, ND in 1981. It was in Oakes where Marlene became known as “Moe.” She worked at Farmer Union Oil, and Main Street Café, and for her dear friend, Joan Larson Myhre, at Joan’s Craft and Floral. Marlene spent nearly twenty years at the Oakes Times, retiring in August 2012.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Jim; one daughter, Wendy; biological daughter, Karla (Adrian) Ladwig; her grandchildren, Heather (Jon) Nemechek, Tyler (Melissa) Knobloch, Courtney (Sultan) Lewis, and Riley Knobloch; and great-grandchildren, Maximus and Nola Nemechek, Taryn, Mariah and Davis Knobloch, and Bryce, Styles, and Kelyn Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and two sisters, Dorie Snyder and Sharon Damn.
Moe wishes for no formal service and says to her family and friends, “I will be waiting for you in Heaven.”
Marlene will be laid to rest in Ebeneezer Church Cemetery in McCabe, MT.
