Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission awards for six projects. The awards totaling $340,524.50 were approved at the APUC quarterly meeting May 27-28 in Bottineau.
APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture that administers grant programs for research and development of new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products which support the development of concepts and products that support our rural communities and agriculture operations.
The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature-based agritourism, prototype and technology and technical assistance.
The following received approval:
Amazing Acres, LLC received a nature-based agritourism grant for $38,625 for corn pit structure construction.
Bowdon Meat Processing received a marketing and utilization grant for $66,000 for a commercial smoker.
Lilac Agriculture LLC received a prototype and technology grant for $55,000 to develop a first-generation dry bean inoculant.
North Dakota State University received a basic and applied research grant for $115,025 for early pilot-scale bioreactors for the creation of crop inoculants.
Spruce Hill Meats LLC received a marketing and utilization grant for $15,874.50 to enhance signage and marketing.
Verdethos, Inc. received a prototype and technology grant for $50,000 to strengthen value-added agriculture exports by digitally connecting farms, processors and buyers through an identity-preserved (IP) process.
Applications for the next meeting must be received by July 1, 2026.
