Barbara J. Braaten, 84, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in her home under the care of HIA Hospice.
Barbara Jean Copus was born on August 12, 1941, to Leo and Grace (Langseth) Copus, in Moorhead. She was raised in Moorhead, attending Moorhead High School. She graduated in 1959. On October 16, 1961, Barbara married Orville Braaten. Together they raised four children before divorcing in 1969.
Barbara had many hobbies. She enjoyed word search puzzles, and creating things by doing latch-hooking. She loved to travel all over. She also had love for her dogs (Scotties) and iguanas (Lizzy’s).
Barbara is survived by her children, Debbie Kopperud, Terry Renecker, and Robbie (Rhonda) Braaten; siblings, Patsy (Jack) Jacobson, Linda Lindberg, Lloyd (Trudy) Rehn Jr. and Brian (Kathy) Rehn; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Trudy Buchfink; parents, Lloyd and Grace; sister, June Plante; and ex-husband, Orville.
A Spring burial will be held for Barbara at Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead.
