Irving Marsaw (Anoka County Jail)
LEXINGTON, Minn. – The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people killed in a double shooting in Lexington northeast of Minneapolis as a mother and her 5-year-old son.
The woman’s estranged partner is the suspect in their deaths. Jennifer Marsaw, 44, and her son, Marzai Dawson, were shot in a home early Wednesday morning. Marsaw died at the scene. The child later died at a hospital.
53-year-old Irving Marsaw has been arrested in the shootings. He has been charged with two counts of second degree murder.
Police say another child in the home called 911 after the shootings.
The suspect was found a few hours later after an intensive manhunt. Police say while in custody, he made several references to the shootings, saying they were done in the heat of passion.
Records show Irving Van Marsaw has a long criminal history, having been arrested several times over the last 20-years on domestic violence charges involving different women.
