Minnesota Senate Chambers
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The Minnesota Senate is full with 67 members again. Swearing-in ceremonies were held Tuesday morning for the newest members after special elections.
Democratic Senator Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger of Woodbury says she “loves the energy and is excited to get to work.” Hemmingsen-Jaeger was in the Minnesota House but ran for the Senate seat following the burglary conviction and resignation of Nicole Mitchell.
Republican Senator Michael Holmstrom takes over the seat held by longtime Senator Bruce Anderson of Buffalo, who died in July. After taking the oath, Holmstrom paid tribute to the late Senator saying he was “a man of integrity, a devoted husband and father, and a steadfast servant of God. His legacy of service will continue to inspire us all.”
The Minnesota Senate goes back to a 34-33 democratic majority.
