MINNEAPOLIS – While he retired from touring seven years ago, Paul Simon decided a day after performing with Sabrina Carpenter during the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special that he was going out on the road again.
The “A Quiet Celebration Tour” will bring the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer to Minneapolis for three nights at the Orpheum Theatre on April 20, 22, and 23.
An announcement says the tour will have Simon playing in relatively intimate venues, which were selected as spaces “where the acoustics are optimal in consideration of the severe hearing loss that he suffered over the last few years.”
The iconic songwriter developed a new stage setup with his production team and the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss, which will make the shows possible.
The tour, his first since a 2018 farewell tour that played Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, will be centered around Simon’s 2023 record, Seven Psalms, a Grammy-nominated record.
Tickets for the performances at the Orpheum Theatre go on sale Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.
