John Bultman
FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo City Commission has voted unanimously to allow Mayor Tim Mahoney to negotiate with John Bultman on behalf of the City to resolve the on-going dispute over Bultman’s north Fargo auto repair business.
The vote came after an executive meeting of the Commission.
The business is in a residential neighborhood near NDSU and the City had ordered Bultman to close it by the end of March.
Bultman recently sold the property and is leasing the space from the new owners. Because of that, city inspectors determined that a decades-old agreement allowing him to remain open was no longer valid. Bultman said he had an agreement with the city to stay open until he turns 70 when he plans to retire.
“I told them I’d retire at the age of 70 and that’s what I’ll do, from this location,” Bultman said.
Bultman said he and the mayor shook hands and he believes the dispute is over. He said he is thankful for the support he has received during this time.
