Attacker shot to death by security guard identified as Minneapolis man

MINNEAPOLIS – The knife-wielding attacker who was shot to death by a security guard earlier this week has been identified as a 62-year-old Minneapolis man.  

The security guard told investigators Spencer Carpenter was trying to stab a woman when he intervened. He says Carpenter ignored his commands to drop the knife so he opened fire.  

Police say Carpenter had a domestic relationship with the woman who was involved. Her name and medical condition haven’t been reported.  

The incident happened Monday night.
