ST. PAUL, Minn. – An assistant commissioner with the Minnesota Department of Health says the numbers suggest that the omicron variant of COVID-19 has peaked and the numbers are coming back down.
Dan Huff says despite the change in direction the state still has a very high case, count. Just under 5,550 new cases were announced Thursday. The daily average in mid-January was about 13,000.
Hospitals and clinics are seeing some relief. In southwest and southeast Minnesota, the decline in cases hasn’t arrived yet
