Downtown Engagement Center
FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — Wednesday night will be the final night of the season for Fargo’s Winter Warming Operation.
The overnight service at Downtown Engagement Center will close for the season Thursday at 8 a.m.
The operation served a total of 638 different people, averaging 62 each night. Fargo Cass Public Health has been working with people to find alternative housing or shelter options.
Leaders say shelters across the Fargo-Moorhead area were at or over capacity for much of the winter season, but crowding was eased with the opening of the New Life Center’s Operation Hope overflow shelter.
In early May, the process to transition services of the Downtown Engagement Center to the new location at 2001 1st Avenue N. will begin. The date for opening services at the new location has not been announced.
