LONDON (KFGO) – A CBS News correspondent who grew up in Fargo and now living in London is in self-quarantine as a precaution against covid-19.
Roxana Saberi says she was advised to stay home for a couple of weeks after she learned that one of her friends tested positive for the disease. “Taking the advice of the National Health Service here and CBS, I’ve been staying home just to make sure that I don’t have coronavirus” Saberi said.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty here, just like there is in the U.S. and in other countries. People just don’t know how bad this is going to get. Just this week, I think people started to take it more seriously.”
In an interview from London, Saberi told KFGO News that the significance of the outbreak is being felt by virtually everyone.
“I wish we weren’t witnessing this kind of history, but I am also trying to see the silver lining in things. I asked on Facebook for people to write something that they are grateful for, and I received a number of nice answers. People said they are spending more time with their families and loved ones and that they’re grateful for that.”
“I hope that North Dakotans and Minnesotans stay safe and strong. I know that the sense of community is very strong. That gives me a lot of hope” Saberi said.
Saberi was a reporter at KVLY-TV in Fargo. She graduated from Fargo North High School and Concordia College.
