BISMARCK, ND (KFGO) – A Fargo man is facing charges of insurance fraud for staging car crashes in order to collect payments from the insurance companies of the other drivers.
State Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread says Scott Goebel caused collisions between Aug. of 2016 and last August. Godfread says Goebel intentionally maneuvered his car to cause collisions and made it appear that it was the fault of the other driver.
Godfread says Goebel collected nearly $23,000 for damages. He also failed to disclose that his car had damage prior to the collisions.
The Cass County State’s Attorneys office is handling the prosecution.
