BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – A 21-year-old man is in the hospital with a gunshot wound and under investigation for attempted murder by Bismarck Police after allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old man in an apartment there Friday morning. Police say the stabbing victim shot his attacker in what is believed to be self-defense.
Officers responded to an apartment in the 2600 block of E Ave F just after 2:00 a.m. after a call of people pounding on a door and screaming for help. Officers located the 21-year-old at the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Interviews of witnesses indicated that the 21-year-old stabbed the 23-year-old multiple times in the abdomen during a social gathering at one of the apartments. The witnesses said that the 23-year-old shot the 21-year-old after being stabbed, indicating that he was acting in self-defense.
Both men were treated at local hospitals and are expected to make recoveries, police say. The incident is still under investigation.
