BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO/PRAIRIEPUBLIC) – The Economic Development Association of North Dakota (EDND) has now set its priorities for the upcoming Legislative session.
Topping that list is workforce.
Executive Director Dana Hager said a key is growing the economy through workforce in ways such as investments in career and technical programs or other ways to bring workers to the state.
Hager said her organization doesn’t have specific proposals for addressing the workforce problem. Instead, she says the group will be a resource, as lawmakers develop bills.
“EDND is here and we’re the experts in the field,” Hager said. “We’re the economic developers in these communities. So, to answer questions and be able to be front and center to be able to say, ‘hey, come and see us and we’ll let you know what’s going on in the rural communities throughout the state.”
Hager says EDND would also like to see more investment in infrastructure, and strengthening and increasing local community development programs.
