MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s banking sector profit rose to 70 billion roubles ($975 million) in June, up from just 500 million roubles in May, a month of partial lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the central bank said on Friday.
Despite the recovery, the central bank said the June figure was much lower than the average monthly profit in 2019, which stood at around 140 billion roubles.
In the first six months of 2020, Russian banks made a profit of 630 billion roubles ($8.1 billion), the central bank said.
