David Delong (Wright County Jail)
BUFFALO, Minn. KFGO/Learfield) – The murder trial of a Watkins, Minnesota man accused of killing his co-worker is on indefinite hold after a second mental competency evaluation determined he is not able to understand the court proceedings.
It is the second time a judge has ruled that David Delong, 40, is not competent to stand trial.
Delong is charged with first-degree premeditated murder and second-degree intentional murder in the death of his co-worker, Amber Czech. Prosecutors say she was killed when Delong hit her with a sledgehammer while at work. Prosecutors say Delong told investigators that he didn’t like Czech.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office was called to Advanced Process Technologies in Cokato northwest of the Twin Cities on November 11, 2025.
Czech was found at her workstation with significant head trauma.
