Gov. Tim Walz
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Gov. Tim Walz has signed an executive order that authorizes the Minnesota National Guard to be staged and ready to support local and state law enforcement in protecting critical public-owned property and maintaining public safety. The order follows the shooting death of a woman in south Minneapolis by a federal immigration enforcement agent on Wednesday morning.
Walz says the order provides the ability for the guard to assist local law enforcement as requested.
Walz says the state is also providing additional law enforcement resources in a coordinated response.
The state patrol has mobilized 85 members of its response team to support law enforcement in the Twin Cities.
