BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – Attorney General Drew Wrigley has issued a warning to North Dakota residents about new scams involving imposters who try to convince people into purchasing and transferring gold bars as a way to safeguard their money.
Wrigley says the scam uses false urgency and threats to create panic and fear to trick people. He says scammers will impersonate government agents or law enforcement and may send false documentation to give credence to the false statements.
Gold scams are growing due to the high value of and demand for gold.
Anyone with questions can contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Fraud Division at 701-2328-3404.
