FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) โ North Dakota brewing companies will ask the legislature in two years to consider the legalization of THC containing beverages.
Minnesota already has such drinks.
A study done for the North Dakota Brewers Guild shows demand for the products. Scott Meske is executive director of the brewers guild.
โTHC-infused beverages is the fastest growing segment of the craft beverage industry,โ Meske said.
Drekker Brewing Company president Mark Bjornstad supports the proposal, saying the drinks would be popular. Minnesota, South Dakota, and 22 other states already have a THC beverage market.
โItโs in every state around us,โ Bjornstad said. โConsumers in North Dakota want this product, and North Dakota as a state is missing out on this as far as taxes and industry thatโs primary segment growth for the state. Itโs a huge opportunity for North Dakota to look at this.โ
Bjornstad said Drekker already ships several THC-infused beverages to other states.
