The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments on a proposed off-highway vehicle trail in Becker County submitted through the state’s grant-in-aid program. The OHV grant-in-aid program is a cost-share partnership between the DNR, a local government sponsor and a local club. The program funds the development and maintenance of trails for all-terrain vehicles, off-highway motorcycles and off-road vehicles.
Ice Cracking ATV Trail proposal: The Woods and Wheels ATV Club, with Becker County serving as the local government sponsor, is proposing to enroll approximately 57 miles of existing roads and trails in the GIA program. No new trail construction is proposed. Enrollment in the GIA program would provide funding to maintain the existing trail system. The proposed route would provide a connection from Two Inlets State Forest east toward White Earth State Forest, connecting to a broader network of OHV trails.
The DNR will accept written comments on the proposal through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2026. Comments may be submitted:
- Via email to OHV.Planning.DNR@state.mn.us (please indicate the name of the proposed trail being commented on in the subject line and email body)
- Via mail to Molly Lou Pintok, principal planner, Minnesota DNR, Parks and Trails Division, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155
A map of the proposed trail segments is available on the DNR’s OHV trail plans and proposals webpage (mndnr.gov/input/mgmtplans/
