FARGO (KFGO) – A local advocacy group is hoping to raise awareness about automated surveillance cameras popping up across the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.
The Faith and Conviction Coalition is partnering with area organizations for the DeFlock National Week of Action.
The effort targets automated license plate readers which record vehicle movements in public spaces.
Organizers say their goal is to shine a light on camera locations and spark a community-wide conversation about privacy, transparency, and how these technologies are being used.
In addition to a social media push to educate neighbors, the group is planning physical demonstrations.
Protesters plan to gather Friday afternoon at camera sites throughout Fargo and Moorhead to demand greater accountability.
