Are you sick of the smoke in the air or are you used to it? I’m in the category of being sick of it. I realize there isn’t much Canada and Northern Minnesota can do; nature has to do its job of clearing out the forest.
Speaking of work, I think there’s a job that farmers need to do. I think they need to reflect and acknowledge that the American taxpayer invested billions of dollars in them in 2026 alone. In the spring of this year, direct payments to farmers totaled above $18 billion. In the fall, an additional $12 billion is headed their way. In other words, $30 billion has found its way into their pockets without ever having sold a bushel. And that doesn’t even include crop insurance and other existing programs.
That’s why I think they need to step up and contact Senators Hoeven and Cramer. The Trump Administration has decided to cut $3.6 billion headed to Medicare recipients. Money set to help our elderly with prescription drug costs. We all need to make that call and advocate for everyone, whether you farm or not.
Having the Minnesota Twins on our family of radio stations is a blast. It’s great to be part of a group that delivers Twins baseball the way it was meant to be: through the radio. Kris Atteberry and Dan Gladden truly love calling these games and share a team whose members you can tell love playing the game.
So sit back and enjoy. And don’t let the talk about summer almost being over get you down. Head outside, get a sunburn, and have some fun.
