(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks began a three game series in Winnipeg Friday night against the Goldeyes. The Goldeyes would send Kevin Vaupel to the mound to face RedHawks’ starter Matt Walker.
In the top of the first inning, Matt Kroon hit a RBI single to plate Juan Fernandez to make in 1-0 RedHawks. Tripp Clark followed with a RBI double that brough Dillon Thomas in and it was 2-0 RedHawks. The RedHawks would score one more run before the inning was over on a Brian Fuentes sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
The Goldeyes would get on the board in the 3rd inning when Noah Marcelo hit a sacrifice RBI with runners on first and third to make it 3-1.
In the top of the 4th inning the RedHawks had Denver Blinn on second base when Dillon Thomas went the opposite way for a RBI double to make it 4-1 RedHawks.
The score would remain 4-1 until the 7th inning when the RedHawks scored one more run off a sacrifice fly by Matt Kroon to make it 5-1.
The Goldeyes would score two runs in the bottom of the 7th. Roby Enriquez would hit a RBI single and then RedHawks pitcher Tyler Jandron committed a balk with runners on second and third base to make it 5-3.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Goldeye Raphael Pelletier would lead off with a solo home run to make it a one run game at 5-4. Jon Beymer would close out the final 1.1 innings as the RedHawks went on to Win 5-4.
RedHawks starter Matt Walker would pitch 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, with 5 strikeouts to get the Win.
