FARGO (KFGO) – Minnesota Republican endorsed candidate for Governor Kendall Qualls says while he does think Minnesota holds the Primary Election late in the year, endorsed candidates are more hurt by those who skip the endorsement process.
“Really kind of a civil war if you will, within our party, and we have Mike Lindell, who’s said he was never going to abide by the endorsement process anyway. He’s going straight to the primary; Myself, and the Speaker of the House of Minnesota, said that she would honor the endorsement process. I won it, and she backtracked, and now we have three major candidates running in the primary.” Qualls said.
Qualls also said that he’s not shaken by President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Primary Election opponent Mike Lindell.
“President Trump is loyal to his people that have been loyal to him. They have a long relationship, they’re friends, I get it. So I don’t take it as a personal slight, I don’t think it’s a slight at all.” Qualls said.
The winner of the primary will face Democrat Amy Klobuchar in November, Qualls said it will be difficult to defeat Klobuchar, but not impossible. He says the democratic party is leaving behind old school members of the party.
“It is gonna be difficult to go against Amy Klobuchar? Absolutely. Is it insurmountable? Absolutely not, and the reason is because the democratic party in Minnesota has gone so far so far left that they’re leaving some of their normal democrats behind,” Qualls said. “They’re leaving behind the Bill Clinton democrats, not the Hillary Clinton democrats, the Bill Clinton democrats.”
The primary election is August 11th. Qualls made his comments on KFGO News and Views with Joel Heitkamp.
