Dennis Verdell Sollid of Moorhead, MN, passed away in his home on May 20, 2026, with his loving daughters by his side.
Dennis was the son of Leland and Verdine Sollid, he was raised on a farm outside of Velva, ND where he attended Velva Public School. He married Connie Buethe in 1975, and together they welcomed two daughters, Anne and Kari. Dennis farmed the family farm for 25 years before moving to Fargo in 2000. He later worked for the City of Moorhead’s Hjemkomst Center for 17 years.
Above all, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for his deep love of family, outgoing personality and kind heart.
Dennis was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, faithfully cheering them on every season — even when they broke his heart year after year. He also enjoyed trips to the casino. After entering hospice care, he asked his girls to take one more trip to the casino. That last trip became one of the greatest memories. Dennis smiled the entire time and even left a big winner. His family will cherish that day forever.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie; sister, Sheryl Thomas, Velva, ND, daughters, Anne (Trevor) Kittelson of Hillsboro, ND, and Kari (Ryan)Marchand of Dilworth, MN; six grandchildren, Matthew (Holly) Sollid, Mckenzie Marchand, Grace Marchand, Kasen Kittelson, Kailee Kittelson and Ethan Kittelson; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks and Quinn Sollid, whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Verdine Sollid; brother, Larry Sollid; and daughter, Mindy Sollid.
Dennis endured nine long years of dialysis with remarkable strength prior to his passing. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Outpatient Sanford Dialysis and HIA Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion and support they provided.
Dennis will be deeply missed. He was an incredible father, but what he cherished most was being a grandfather and great-grandfather. The love he gave to his family will remain with them always.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Dennis’ life at 2 p.m. at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service in Moorhead. He will be laid to rest at Stenkjaer Lutheran Cemetery near Simcoe, ND, at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026. All family and friends are welcome.
