AITKIN, Minn. (KFGO) – A former northern Minnesota police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl while in uniform.
The charge against Jordan Zempel, 35, a former Hill City police officer, says he sexually assaulted the 17-year-old girl, who he met online.
A therapist made a mandated report to law enforcement. He’s accused of telling the girl that she’d be safer with him while showing her his badge, taser, bullet resistant vest and placing her in handcuffs. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated. The charge was filed in Aitkin County District Court.
Zempel, who now lives in Apple Valley, resigned from the police department in March.
