(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were looking for their 5th straight win against the Cleburne Railroaders in a 7 game road series, as Fargo-Moorhead captured the series victory the night before with a 12-9 win. Fargo-Moorhead would start Hunter Day on the mound, where Cleburne would go with Bodi Rascon on a relatively windy day in Cleburne, Texas.
The Railroaders would start the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI double by Christian Almanza to make it 1-0 Railroaders. Fargo-Moorhead would respond thanks to a 2-run home run by Dillon Thomas in the top of the 3rd.
Cleburne was looking to respond right back, as they plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th. It started with a 2-run single by Cole Foster, followed by an RBI single by Christian Almanza, and then an RBI single by Delino DeShields Jr., to make it 5-2 Cleburne. In the bottom of the 6th, with Angel Mendoza at 1st, Delino DeShields Jr. would line a double to right field. Fargo-Moorhead, when fielding the ball, didn’t throw the ball to home plate, allowing Mendoza to score.
Trailing 6-2 entering the top of the 7th, the RedHawks were looking for some insurance. They would get a run thanks to an RBI single by Jairus Richards to make it 6-3. Cleburne would also get a run in their half of the 7th on a sacrifice fly from Frankie Tostado to make it 7-3.
The RedHawks would get a huge hit from Jake Hjelle with two on in the top of the 8th, as he launched a 3-run shot to left field, making it a 1 run game at 7-6. In the top of the 9th, Jairus Richards would attempt to steal with 1 out. He would be thrown out before Matt Kroon would strike out swinging against Ben Leeper of Cleburne, as the Railroaders would take the 5th game of the series by a final of 7-6.
Aaron Mishoulam would get the win in relief for Cleburne, where Fargo-Moorhead’s Hunter Day would be given the loss. Ben Leeper would get the save in the win for the Railroaders.
