Former State Sen. Justin Eichorn (R-Grand Rapids)
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Former Republican State Sen. Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids has pleaded guilty to a reduced felony charge of attempted possession of child pornography in U.S. District Court in St. Paul.
The plea came Thursday morning more than a year after Eichorn’s arrest as part of an undercover law enforcement sting investigation in Bloomington.
Eichorn has admitted that he planned to meet with a 17-year-old girl for paid sex. The person he was communicating with was an undercover police officer. According to the agreement, sentencing guidelines would recommend 15 to 21 months in prison and at least five years of supervised probation. He will also likely be required to register as a sex offender upon his release. Eichorn was turned over to the U.S. Marshal’s Service until sentencing.
The father of four has often described himself as a “Christian Family Man” and touted family values.
Eichorn resigned from his Senate post three days after his arrest.
