MOORHEAD (KFGO KVRR) – Former Moorhead Mayor Del Rae Williams is jumping back into politics and running for city council in Ward 1.
She was elected mayor in 2013 and became the first woman to hold the role. Williams served one term and decided not to seek reelection in 2018, saying she loved her community but wanted to be active in other ways.
She says “historically, folks run for council and then mayor.” But she is doing it the other way around.
Ryan Nelson’s seat expires at the end of the year.
Candidates can file for city offices from July 14 to 28.
The election is November 3.
