Fire does significant damage to Moorhead duplex
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Fire late Monday morning heavily damage a duplex in south Moorhead.
Moorhead Fire was dispatched to a fire on the deck of a duplex in at 4541 19th St S. While enroute, callers reported that the structure had caught fire. Crews arrived to find heavy fire along the entire western side of the building, spreading upward into the structure. Moorhead Police officers assisted with evacuating the building. The call time was about 11.
Before the fire was brought under control, it consumed a large portion of the southern unit’s living spaces, attic, and roof. The second unit sustained significant fire damage, and a neighboring home experienced heat damage. Natural gas and electrical service were disconnected for safety. Although no injuries were reported, both units of the duplex cannot be occupied due the damage.
No initial damage estimate is currently available. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Moorhead Fire Department was assisted by Moorhead police, the Fargo Fire Department, Sabin‑Elmwood Fire District, Dilworth Area Fire Department, Sanford Ambulance Service, Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross.
