I enjoy Jimmy Kimmel. He’s funny and speaks truth to power during these chaotic times.
Other people don’t like him. They find him offensive and don’t think he’s funny. That’s fine. Then don’t watch him.
Either way, Kimmel is just utilizing his First Amendment rights. One of our precious freedoms.

Of course, Donald and Melania Trump don’t see it that way. After Kimmel told a joke about Melania and Donald, they both called on ABC to fire Kimmel.
As you may remember, Trump recently bragged that he had “Brought free speech back to America” and said, “I’m a very strong person for free speech.”
Apparently, Trump is only for free speech when that speech praises him. You know, from suck-ups, such as former North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.
We also know that on a regular basis, Trump utters despicable things. Who can forget when Trump blasted beloved actor and director Rob Reiner after he was murdered? Or when Trump said, “I’m glad he’s dead,” after former FBI Director and Purple Heart recipient Robert Mueller died.
Of course, Trump’s ugly comments are protected by the First Amendment, as they should be.
Shamefully, Kimmel’s joke has gone to a frightening level. That’s because the Federal Communications Commission has now ordered a review of ABC’s broadcast licenses. Kimmel’s show is on ABC.
In essence, the FCC is threatening to take away ABC’s owned television stations because of Kimmel’s joke. This is chilling. It’s also unprecedented. Never before has the federal government ordered such a massive review of a network’s properties.
The FCC is chaired by Trump bootlicker Brendan Carr, and claims it’s reviewing ABC’s licenses because of ABC’s diversity and inclusion policies. Who is Carr kidding? In an amazing coincidence, the FCC announced it is reviewing ABC the day after the Trumps demanded that ABC fire Kimmel.
This should send shockwaves throughout the country. My fear is that other broadcasters or publications will be afraid to broadcast or publish any commentary that’s critical of our corrupt president.
Fortunately, even some Trump loyalists can see what’s going on.
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz said, “It is not government’s job to censor speech, and I do not believe the FCC should operate as the speech police.”
Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul told Politico, “The federal government and the FCC shouldn’t be involved with regulating humor.”
They’re both right. Trump is acting like a mad king. It’s all a blatant abuse of power and an attack against free speech.
It must be stopped.
–My wife and I recently attended a concert performed by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
It was fantastic!

Once again using his First Amendment rights, Trump recently called Springsteen a “Total loser” and a “Dried up prune.” He also said, “MAGA should boycott his overpriced concerts, which suck.”
Of course, our thin-skinned president spewed all that garbage because Springsteen, otherwise known as “The Boss,” dares to criticize Trump’s inhumane policies.
The reality is, the 76-year-old Springsteen had more energy than a teenager in the three-hour show. His voice was strong, and the music was riveting.
The most meaningful part of the show was when Springsteen called the people of Minnesota, “An inspiration to the entire country” and sang “Streets of Minneapolis.”
That song is a tribute to protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were murdered by ICE.
The song was touching. May we always remember Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
