GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) — A 44-year-old man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase in Grand Forks County Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office says the chase began when people reported a reckless driver speeding and swerving on Highway 2. A deputy responded and clocked the vehicle going 84 mph in a 70 mph zone. The deputy tried to make a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Trenton Kary, initially pulled over, but then drove into a field where his pickup got stuck. Sheriff’s deputies, Highway Patrol troopers, and Grand Forks Police officers surrounded Kary’s vehicle.
Officers ordered Kary to give himself up, but he refused and tried to drive away. He got stuck again. Officers tossed chemical irritants into the vehicle and Kary came out. He resisted officers before he was taken into custody.
Kary was treated for minor injuries before being taken to jail for fleeing, DUI, reckless endangerment, and preventing arrest. He was also cited for having an open container and speeding.
