FARGO (KFGO) — Discovery Middle School Spanish Teacher Jim Urlacher is the Fargo Schools 2026 Teacher of the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Cory Steiner surprised Urlacher with the award Tuesday afternoon.
Urlacher started with Fargo Public Schools at Agassiz Middle School in 2005. He’s been at Discovery since 2006 when it became a middle school.
Nominators say Urlacher is a veteran teacher whose impact is felt throughout the school and district. He has been a Fargo Education Association negotiator, World Languages facilitator and department chair. He will now be considered for the Cass County Teacher of the Year Award. The Cass County Teacher of the Year is a candidate for the North Dakota Teacher of the Year award.
