PARK RAPIDS, Minn. (KFGO) – A couple in north-central Minnesota died after their SUV was hit by a train in rural Hubbard County.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call from the train conductor just before 10 a.m Friday.
Investigators say Douglas Stewart, 61, stopped at the rail crossing west of Cass Lake but then crossed in front of the BNSF Railway train. The train hit the SUV and Stewart and his wife, 42-year-old Tiffany Stewart died at the scene.
The train conductor is from Kempton, North Dakota.
