DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – A house is a total loss after a fire south of Detroit Lakes on Sunday afternoon.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received the report around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 to a home on County Highway 20 south of Lake Melissa, just west of Highway 59.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the home was engulfed in flames. Everyone was able to safely get out of the house.
The person who called said they left the home for about 20 minutes and returned to find flames in the kitchen and smoke filling the house.
Emergency responders say the fire spread quickly and the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was hurt.
The Pelican Rapids and Vergas Fire Departments responded to the scene.
