40th Avenue South between 8th Street and 20th Street in Moorhead, Minn.
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The City of Moorhead is holding a community open house focused on the 40th Avenue South corridor project.
The city is exploring ways to improve safety, support walking and biking, and prepare for future traffic needs along 40th Avenue between 8th Street and 20th Street.
The project team says this stretch of roadway is an important connection to residential areas, schools, parks, local businesses, and churches.
In July 2025, 9-year-old Adam Amin was riding a bike in a crosswalk when he was hit by a Moorhead Public Works vehicle and killed at 40th Avenue and 14th Street South. Amin was a 4th grader at SG Reinertsen Elementary School.
The open house is an opportunity for people to learn about safety needs in the area, review early design concepts, and share their experiences and ideas directly with the project team.
The open house is in the cafeteria at SG Reinertsen Elementary School, located at 1201 40th Avenue South, from 5–7 PM on Thursday, Jan. 22.
