FARGO (KFGO) – A district court judicial referee in Fargo has been named a judge in the East Central District.
Governor Kelly Armstrong has appointed Scott Diamond. He succeeds former judge Nick Chase, who was appointed by President Trump as North Dakota U.S. Attorney last fall.
Diamond is a former Fargo city prosecutor who has served as a judicial referee since 2023. He earned has law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2001. Eight people applied for the opening and diamond was one of three finalists. The others were judicial referee Daniel Gast and retired Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Myers.
The district covers Cass, Traill and Steele Counties.
