MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Moorhead Police Department is working closely with Moorhead Area Public Schools after becoming aware of a social media post suggesting a potential threat to a school.
Moorhead Police say safety protocols were implemented to ensure the security of students and staff. Police Chief Chris Helmick emphasized the importance of community involvement in preventing similar situations.
“We encourage parents and guardians to stay engaged with their children’s online activity and conversations,” said Chief Helmick. “Open communication and awareness of social media use can prevent misunderstandings and help keep our community safe. Working together, we can ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our schools.”
Police say the student involved was not in school and will not return until the investigation is complete.
At this time, there is no known additional threat to our schools.
