BISMARCK, N.D. (PRAIRIE PUBLIC/KFGO) – North Dakota is among states that have seen an increase in the last two weeks of influenza cases.
“As we approach the end of December, our most recent week we’ve had a total of 871 new cases of influenza, bringing the season total just over 1600 total cases for the year, and that’s not counting the COVID-19 and RSV that’s circulating.” Levi Schlosser, a Respiratory Disease Specialist with the State Department of Health and Human Services said.
Schlosser says the timing for the spike in influenza cases is consistent with previous years. While vaccinations are considered the best way to protect yourself during the flu season, things like hand washing, covering your cough and staying home if you are not feeling well are still among the best prevention practices.
