ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO/MNN) – State officials expect significant growth in the cannabis retail market in 2026. The Office of Cannabis Management’s Eric Taubel says it was a slow introduction of adult-use licenses early on.
“In the last month or two we’ve just seen a real uptick. We’ve got wholesalers now, transporters, we’ve got three testing facilities, even a couple big cultivators are online, so.”
Taubel says license-holders who applied last summer moved the cannabis industry forward.
There should be an increased supply of adult-use cannabis flower from state-licensed growers early next year. Taubel says they have a system that tracks harvest.
“We’ve actually really seen a pretty substantial increase in the number of plants are moving from the seedling stage into what we call the vegetative stage and eventually flowering stage. So I think we’re on the cusp of a lot more product being ready from the state license side.”
Most of the recreational cannabis in Minnesota comes from Tribal nations or medical manufacturers.
